WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY OF TANTALLON

$429,900

This beautiful home is located in Tantallon, a community of 9,500 residents that is located at Exit 5 on Highway 103 which is 22 km from the Halifax peninsula and 28 km the famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. The lighthouse is an iconic Canadian image and one of the busiest tourist attractions in Nova Scotia.

As you drive through Tantallon you will be encircling St Margaret's Bay, one of the world's greatest sailing bays. Because of the large open yet protected expanse of ocean that St Margaret's Bay offers, along with consistent afternoon breezes, it is a playground for sailors. The area also includes the St Margaret's Bay Trail which runs between Halifax and Lunenburg, allowing you to hike or bike the entire Bluenose Coast if you wish. The Train Station Bike & Bean is a café/bike shop located in the historic French Village and is perfectly situated along the Rails-to-Trails paths.

The house is located about 5 km from Upper Tantallon, the area's major shopping area. At the intersection of highway 103 and Hammond's Plains Road you will find a shopping mall that contains a Sobeys grocery store, the Nova Scotia Liquor Store, a Bank of Nova Scotia, Goodlife Fitness, 3 gas stations, and several other stores and restaurants.

Upper Tantallon also is home to the St. Margaret’s Centre. It offers 2 ice surfaces, 25 meter pool, fitness centre/weight room, and full size gymnasium. Built by the community and driven by a strong dedicated group of volunteers, the centre is now a major focal point of the area.

Follow Hammonds Plains Road to Route 3 and you are in an area we call the Crossroads. Here you will find an Atlantic Superstore (Loblaws), Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, several drug stores, an animal hospital and schools (Tantallon Senior Elementary & Sir John A MacDonald High School).

... so why live in Tantallon?

Tantallon is the fastest growing community in Nova Scotia. It has had record population growth of 41% between 2001-2011. This rate is nearly three times the general population growth. Following are some of the key reasons residents regard Tantallon as a desirable community:

Ocean Activities: 5-10 minutes from beaches, sailing clubs, and world class sea kayaking. St Margaret's Bay is consistently ranked as one of the world's best sailing destinations. Local attractions include Peggy's Cove lighthouse and the UNESCO world heritage town of Lunenburg which is home to the Bluenose.

Oceanside Trail System: Tantallon is nestled on the popular Rails-to-Trails path which allows walking, running, cycling, and cross-country skiing. The Bike & Bean sits on the main trail entrance in Tantallon and has become a hub for residents to connect as part of a social, active lifestyle.

Quality Shops and Services: Tantallon features higher end restaurants and coffee shops to cater to more upscale clientele. The town also has popular larger retailers including Canadian Tire and Rona.

Proximity to Halifax: Tantallon is 22 km from Halifax, via divided 100-Series highways; therefore the trip is a breeze.
